Andrea McKellar is very much looking forward to her first General Convention in Salt Lake City this summer. She visited Salt Lake City in the summer of 1988 on a family cross-country vacation. “It will be nice to see it again from a different perspective,” she says. “I remember that the salt flats looked like a valley of snow.” When asked what she was most looking forward to about General Convention, she replied “Seeing old and new friends from across The Episcopal Church and representing our diocese to let everyone see that we are indeed back and excited to be moving our ministry forward.”

Andrea currently serves as Administrative Assistant for The Episcopal Church in South Carolina and Senior Warden and Director of Christian Formation at St. Francis Episcopal Church in the West Ashley area of Charleston. Andrea served on the Standing Commission for Lifelong Christian Formation and Education of The Episcopal Church during this triennium, and has been appointed to the Formation and Education for Ministry Legislative Committee at General Convention.

Andrea grew up in coastal Virginia, attending colonial Episcopal parishes with her parents and grandparents. She served on the Parish Youth Ministries Board for the Diocese of Virginia during high school. After graduating with her Bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing from the College of William & Mary, she moved to Charleston to work at Kiawah Island Golf Resort. She has been married to her husband Mark for 10 years and they have two children, Grant (5) and Meredith (3).
