Four deputies from South Carolina's deputation have been named to legislative committees at the 79th General Convention.
Andrea McKellar of St. Francis, Charleston, has been appointed as Secretary of the Christian Formation & Discipleship Committee. The appointment was announced in late November by the Rev. Gay Clark Jennings, President of the House of Deputies. This committee receives and proposes resolutions on discipleship, Christian formation, and education for all the baptized.
On January 17, members of the committees were announced, and three from our deputation will serve as follows:
World Mission - The Rev. Dr. James Taylor, St. Thomas, North Charleston. This committee receives and proposes resolutions on mission personnel, world mission strategy, and covenant relationships with other Anglican provinces or bodies.
Racial Justice and Reconciliation - Lonnie Hamilton III, Calvary, Charleston. This committee receives and proposes resolutions on racial justice, reconciliation, and healing.
Social Justice and United States Policy - The Rev. Richard C. Lindsey, All Saints, Hilton Head Island. This committee receives and proposes resolutions on social justice issues facing the United States.
